MOYAMBA – Police in Moyamba District are investigating an alleged murder in which a father is accused of killing his nine-year-old son in Mosongo Village, Kori Chiefdom.
According to a police report, the incident was reported in the early hours of today, Tuesday 22nd September 2026, at about 01:15 a.m. by the Town Chief of Mosongo Village, Chief Moses Gbappie.
Chief Gbappie told police that at around 01:10 a.m., he discovered that one Junisa Brainard of Mosongo Village had allegedly murdered his son, Mohamed Brainard, aged 9.
Sources say the child lived with his mother in Kulanda Town following a marital breakup between his parents. He had travelled to Mosongo on holiday and was expected to return for the new academic year which has just started across the country.
The motive for the alleged killing is not yet known, but police say family dispute is being looked into as part of the investigation.
The suspect, Junisa Brainard, is currently in custody at the Moyamba Police Division helping police with investigations, while the body of the deceased has been taken for post-mortem examination.
Police say they will provide further updates as investigations continue.
