The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has disclosed its upcoming proactive measures to ensure a seamless power supply for the public during the festive season.
EDSA made this announcement in a press release issued today, Friday 15 December 2023.
“This preventive maintenance operation is crucial to uphold the integrity of our power network and to guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply to communities,” stated EDSA spokesperson.
The focal points of this maintenance initiative include the trimming of overgrown vegetation hindering power transmission and servicing the 33 KV air switches at the Freetown 161 station. Scheduled for Saturday, December 16, 2023, the operation aims to fortify the network’s resilience.
To facilitate the maintenance work, the Authority will implement a partial shutdown of the supply grid from Freetown 161, affecting specific areas for a period of three hours starting from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Areas to be temporarily affected include:
– Blackhall Road
– Roportee
– Wellington
– Wilberforce
– Regent
– Lumley
– Crab Town
– Juba
– Goderich
EDSA regrets any inconvenience caused and assures the affected communities of a swift restoration of power immediately upon the completion of the maintenance activity.
For further inquiries or concerns, the public is encouraged to contact the EDSA head office at Electricity House, 36 Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown.
The Authority expresses gratitude for the public’s understanding and cooperation during this essential maintenance effort.
