FREETOWN, May 6, 2026 — The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has announced widespread power outages affecting several communities in the Western Area following a heavy storm that damaged sections of the electricity distribution network.
According to the utility, the affected areas include Barmouth Community, the Barmoi Hotel vicinity, Murray Town Barracks, Grammar School, Okeky, KADCO, Kuntorloh Community, Spur Road and Spur Loop, Chinese, Orugu Village, Upper Medical Store, and New England.
EDSA said its technical teams have already identified the faults caused by the storm and have begun repair work.
Crews have been deployed to the affected locations as part of efforts to restore electricity safely and as quickly as possible.
The Authority expressed regret over the disruption and appealed for public patience, assuring residents that all necessary steps are being taken to normalize power supply in the shortest possible time.
