On Saturday, August 30, 2025, an ECOWAS delegation, accompanied by Sierra Leone’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Rtd. AIG. Morie Lengor Esq, visited the Mano River Union (MRU) border crossing post between Sierra Leone and Guinea.
The visit aimed to review joint border cooperation, coordination, and daily operations.
The team engaged with border management officials—including Immigration, Customs, the Office of National Security, Sierra Leone Police, and the Military—who provided updates on current practices.
Officials also expressed anticipation for the construction and activation of the ECOWAS one-stop border post, in line with the regional protocol on the free movement of people and goods across ECOWAS member states.
