The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has extended his warm congratulations to Babadi Kamara following his recent election as President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).
In a formal letter addressed to Kamara, Dr. Motsepe described the victory as a clear demonstration of the trust and confidence placed in him by members of the SLFA.
He also acknowledged the newly elected Executive Committee, applauding their collective mandate and assuring them of CAFβs continued support.
βCAF is committed to assisting and working together with you and SLFA to develop and grow the enormous football talent in our beautiful country, Sierra Leone,β Dr. Motsepe stated.
He further expressed his eagerness to meet with President Kamara and work closely to advance the sport in Sierra Leone.
In response, the SLFA expressed appreciation for the congratulatory message and reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening ties with CAF under the new leadership.
Kamara won by a wide margin, receiving 43 votes. His rivals, Aminata Bangura and Alhaji Umaru Bah, got 11 and 1 vote respectively. His victory brings new hope for Sierra Leonean football after months of confusion and court battles.
The journey to this election was full of problems. There were accusations of fake documents, political pressure, and fights over who could vote.
Known for turning Bo Rangers into a top club, Kamara now plans to rebuild trust in the SLFA, support young players, and work closely with international football groups.
