In a recent social media post, Sierra Leone’s prominent footballer, Mohamed Buya Turay, publicly apologized for his regrettable comments directed towards women a few weeks ago.

Turay expressed deep remorse, acknowledging the hurtful nature of his words and demonstrating the courage it took to admit his abusive behavior.

Addressing mothers, sisters, his wife, and fans both at home and abroad, Turay sincerely apologized for the impact of his actions.

He took full responsibility for his behavior, emphasizing that the offensive remarks did not reflect his true feelings but were uttered in a moment of anger and frustration.

The football star revealed his commitment to personal growth, actively seeking counseling sessions to understand the root causes of his actions.

Turay expressed determination to become a better person and create a safe and loving environment for his country, family, fans, and loved ones.

Recognizing that healing and rebuilding trust will take time, Turay respected the opinions and comments regarding the video.

He assured the public of his genuine respect for women, vowing to make amends and protect women’s lives. Turay acknowledged the importance of sincerity in restoring his reputation and taking responsibility for his actions.

In his closing statements, the footballer extended wishes for a happy and healing New Year, emphasizing his commitment to transformation and growth.

Turay concluded by expressing hope that his remorse and dedication to change would contribute to the healing process for those who had been affected by his offensive remarks.

See post below:

????? Few weeks back there were a hurtful remorseful video I said to the womanhood. It takes me so many weeks of courage to acknowledge and accept my abusive behavior.

I hope this apology finds you y’all mothers, sisters, my wife and fans out there home and abroad. I wanted to reach out and apologize from the bottom of my heart for the hurtful and abusive words I said to the women. I am truly sorry for my actions that l was pushed away to do this I caused and the impact it had on you.

I want you to know that I take full responsibility for my actions, and I deeply regret my behaviour today, because truly this is not the type of person I’m. There is no excuse for the hurtful words I used, and I understand how they have affected you all women emotionally.

I want you to understand that my words were never a reflection of how I truly feel about the situation. They were said in a moment of anger and frustration, and I deeply regret the hurt they caused. I am committed to learning from this experience and making positive changes in my behaviour by not letting myself be distracted by retaliation either behind the scenes or in public.

Please know that I am actively seeking help and support to address my abusive tendencies through my life I have been into lately. I am taking counseling sessions and working on understanding the root causes of my behavior in this video. My goal is to become a better person always and to create a safe and loving environment for my country people, family, fans and my loved ones.

I understand that it will take time for this to come to past with y’all, and I respect your opinion and comments in relation to the video. I want you to know that I am a human being too for be silent behind the scene and I reacted like that it was outrageous to me as a role model to the nation.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I want you to know that I respect women and value them deeply. I am committed to making amends and rebuilding the trust that had been broken to the women out there by protecting our women’s lives , it’s important for me to be sincere about my reputation and take responsibility for my actions.

It may take time for the women out there who have seen the video to heal, but expressing my remorse and commitment to change is a crucial step toward transforming by not allowing nothing to lead me back into this situation.

Wishing you all happy pleasant new year towards healing and growth. ?❤️

Your son, friend, grandpa, brother and uncle…
