As tradition demands, the International Security Training Centre in Egypt on Wednesday 19th October 2023 held its graduation ceremony on various professional disciplines\courses including Leadership, Community Policing and Human Rights and Counter- Terrorism for 110 participants from 32 African and Commonwealth countries.
The ceremony which was witnessed and graced by the Deputy Minister of Interior who also doubles as the Principal Head of the Egyptian Police Academy marks the end of a successful completion of the 8 weeks intensive program.
Among the graduates, were four officers from the Sierra Leone Police Force (Superintendent Monica Johnson, Officer Commanding New England Ville Police Station, Superintendent Samuel Saio Conteh Deputy Head of Community Relations Department, Police Headquarters, Inspector Alieu Mansaray Media and Community Relations Officer, Congo Cross Division and Mohamed Teteh Fofanah from the Operations Support Division).
These officers performed exceptionally well and were honoured with gratification plaques and certificates by academic and administrative staff of the Egyptian Police Academy.
After the certification ceremony, the four Sierra Leonean officers met with the Plenipotentiary of Sierra Leone to Egypt, Ambassador Sadiq Sillah in his office. He was very pleased together with his staff to receive the four officers from Sierra Leone.
Ambassador Sadiq Silla manifested his sincere appreciation to the officers and to the Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police for what he described as “exemplary and exceptional performance” of these four officers. He said that he was reliably and well informed by the Chief Instructor of the Egyptian Police Academy Colonel Maged. With that, he said, “I would like on behalf of myself and my staff to thank you very much for flying high the Green, White and Blue Flag of Sierra Leone. You really made us proud,” he remarked.
Highlighting the importance of the knowledge and skills acquired by the officers during their training, the Ambassador encouraged them to share and implement these insights within the Sierra Leone Police Force. The graduates expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, Mr William Fayia Sellu for his visionary leadership and commitment to capacity building.
This successful completion of training by the Sierra Leonean police officers in Egypt not only demonstrates their dedication to professional development and capacity building, but also strengthens the bilateral relations between Egypt and Sierra Leone in the field of law enforcement.
