Freetown – Petrol and diesel prices have gone up across Sierra Leone with effect from Monday, 3 August 2026, the Ministry of Information and Civic Education has announced.
Following a review of the petroleum pricing formula by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), the new pump prices are:
– Petrol: NLe35.00 per litre (up from NLe33.00). The government is providing a subsidy of NLe2.11 per litre.
– Diesel: NLe40.00 per litre (up from NLe35.00). The government is providing a subsidy of NLe3.04 per litre.
Officials said the adjustment reflects changes in international fuel prices and the exchange rate, while ensuring that fuel subsidies remain sustainable.
Petroleum prices will continue to be reviewed regularly.
The ministry noted that if international fuel prices decline, future price adjustments will reflect those changes.
The notice was issued by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education on 3 August 2026.
