A post-mortem examination has reportedly concluded that Alhaji Abdulrahman “Omega” Sesay, a respected university lecturer and prominent member of the opposition All People’s Congress (APC), died as a result of strangulation, deepening concerns surrounding the circumstances of his death.
Sesay, who was widely known as “Omega,” was an influential APC figure in Port Loko District, where he previously served as the party’s District Public Relations Officer and was regarded by supporters as a potential aspirant for the position of District Council Chairman.
The case has attracted significant public attention following reports that law enforcement authorities have detained and questioned several persons as part of ongoing investigations. Police have not announced any formal charges and continue to urge the public to refrain from circulating unverified claims while inquiries remain active.
Investigators are working to establish the events leading up to Sesay’s death. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has also reportedly invited individuals believed to possess information relevant to the case as part of its efforts to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Reports circulating on social media and in some media outlets have suggested the presence of foul play, with references to injuries allegedly identified during the post-mortem examination. However, authorities have not publicly released the full autopsy report, and several of the claims remain unverified.
The death of Sesay has sparked widespread reactions within political circles and among residents of Port Loko District, with family members, party supporters, and community leaders calling for a thorough and transparent investigation to ensure that the facts surrounding his death are fully established.
Police say investigations remain ongoing and have appealed for patience as detectives continue gathering evidence.
