Freetown – In a significant development within the Sierra Leone Police Force, the Police Council has approved the promotion of several senior officers to the prestigious rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).
This decision, made during the council’s meeting on September 27, 2024, is effective immediately.
The Inspector General of Police communicated the decision to all regional police officers (REGPOLs), local unit commanders (LUCs), directors, and heads of departments.
The officers promoted to the rank of AIG include those holding various critical roles within the police structure.
Among those promoted are Francis Musa Hazeley, who has been serving as the Acting Director of Professional Standards, and Victor Manfred Williams, who will take on the role of Acting REGPOL for the North-East region.
Other notable promotions include Andrew Mustapha Kamara as Acting REGPOL East, Hillary Sao Kanu currently deployed in Somalia with ATMIS, and Joseph Lahai as Acting REGPOL North-West.
In addition to these, the list includes Dr. John Martin Senesie, who has been appointed Acting Director of Operations, and Musa James, now the Acting Director of Human Resource Management. Furthermore, Francis Brima Meinday will assume the role of Acting REGPOL for Freetown-East, Richard P.G. Roberts will lead the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and Esther Mary Kaintor has been appointed Acting Director of Corporate Affairs.
These promotions mark a significant step in strengthening the leadership of the Sierra Leone Police as they continue to uphold law and order across the country.
