A fatal road accident has been reported in the eastern part of Freetown, leaving one woman dead and several others injured.
According to eyewitness reports, the incident occurred at Upgun near the Benz Garage area, close to the traffic light junction.
A truck carrying a large quantity of cement reportedly lost control and crashed into a commercial tricycle, commonly known as a kekeh, which was parked by the roadside.
The impact of the collision struck a woman who was attempting to cross the road at the time, killing her instantly. Several other people are said to have sustained injuries during the incident.
The driver of the truck reportedly fled the scene shortly after the crash and is currently nowhere to be found.
Authorities are expected to begin investigations into the cause of the accident as efforts continue to locate the driver.
