Sierra Leone’s Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has returned from a long visit to many African countries to a grand reception by the leadership and stakeholders of Surera Leonean Fullahs, thanking them for staying united and steadfast.
His return, 8 days after the unlawful arrest, harassment, intimidation, inhumane humiliation, and degrading treatment of hundreds of Fullah Sierra Leonean nationals by elements of the Sierra Leone Police and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces on Sunday 15th December 2024, in Freetown, marks a pivotal moment to addressing the issue once and of all.
He said he would meet all stakeholders immediately before meeting all Fullah Tribal Heads from across the country on Tuesday Dec 24. He also said he would send a team to every corner of the country to engage and assure the Fullah communities of their rights as citizens of the country.
Dr Jalloh assured his people of the government’s commitment to addressing their concerns, emphasizing that the administration is taking them seriously, which is why they have initiated a thorough investigation to ensure justice is done and assured them that such infractions would never happen again.
His statements come amid growing tensions and appeals from Fullah leaders for swift intervention by government to protect their community’s rights and dignity. He called for calm and unity, urging his people and all Sierra Leoneans to uphold the principles of equality and respect for diversity.
These engagements are clear indications that the Fullahs hold the Vice President in high esteem and are solidly behind him.
