Superintendent Akim Turay, has publicly dismissed claims linking him to a contentious audio recording that has been making the rounds recently.
The recording, purportedly created by an individual known as “Alias Sa-Jay,” reportedly implicates Turay in a disturbing incident that occurred on November 26, 2023.
Superintendent Turay strongly refuted any association with the incident in question. In his statement, he underscored his longstanding commitment to preserving law, order, and public safety in Sierra Leone. He expressed his deep opposition to the incident and declared that he had no involvement in such unlawful activities.
In his extended service with the RSLAF, Turay has been a staunch advocate for the government and the citizens of Sierra Leone. He issued a firm warning to those attempting to sully his name and disrupt the nation’s harmony. He assured that any attempt to tarnish his character and reputation will not go unnoticed, vowing to seek legal recourse against such defamatory actions.
In his address, Turay underscored his enduring love for Sierra Leone and its people, distancing himself from the violent insinuations in the audio recording. He confirmed his unwavering dedication to fostering peace in Sierra Leone, drawing on his past experiences with the destructive effects of conflict. He categorically stated that he would not engage in any actions that could compromise the peace and security of his beloved nation.
In closing, Turay reaffirmed his loyalty to the Inspector General of Police, the Sierra Leone Police Force’s rules and regulations, and the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone. He stressed his belief in the crucial role of peace in enabling national development.
Turay concluded his statement by expressing his appreciation to the people of Sierra Leone and pledged to continue working to uphold the nation’s peace and integrity.
