In a decisive operation, the East End Police Division, under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Septimus Siaka Vandi, successfully apprehended three notorious armed robbers who had been terrorizing traders and residents in Mabellah and Lumley Street.
The arrests, made by the division’s operations team, mark a significant victory in the ongoing efforts to curb crime in the area.
For weeks, the communities of Mabellah and Lumley Street had been gripped by fear as unknown assailants, some with recognizable faces, targeted victims under the cover of darkness.
In response to growing concerns and repeated reports of criminal activities, DSP Vandi directed his operations team to take swift action against the culprits.
The breakthrough came in the early hours of Sunday, August 25, 2024, at around 2:00 AM. While patrolling Lumley Street, the operations team, led by Sergeant 9891 Kaitibie, intercepted three suspects.
The men, identified as Ibrahim Conteh of 2 King Jimmy, Samuel Koroma, alias “Jordan,” of 1 King Jimmy, and Augustine Pratt, alias “Money Tick,” of 2 King Jimmy, were found in possession of offensive weapons, including a cutlass and a knife. These weapons are believed to have been used in their criminal activities.
Following the arrests, the suspects were promptly transferred to the East End Police Division, where they were handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) along with the confiscated weapons for further investigation.
The arrests have brought relief to the local community, as the removal of these criminals from the streets has significantly enhanced public safety.
