Freetown, December 27, 2025 – The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has announced it will provide logistical support to enable Guinean nationals living in Sierra Leone to vote in Guinea’s presidential election scheduled for Sunday, December 28, 2025.
The assistance, coordinated through the Guinean Embassy in Sierra Leone, aligns with the ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC) agreement promoting mutual support among West African electoral bodies.
Polling will take place at nine designated voting centres across Sierra Leone, comprising 11 voting stations:
| District | Name of Centre | Address |
|—————-|—————————————–|———————————-|
| Bo | ECSL Office | Govt Reservation, Bo |
| Kenema | ECSL Office | Govt. Reservation, Kenema |
| Kono | UMC Boys Primary Sch | Pimbi Lane, Koidu City |
| Kabala | PC Marrah’s Compound | Kabala town |
| Makeni | Islamic Community Center | Timbo |
| Kambia | Arabic school off Bangura Mosque | Kambia II |
| Western Rural | Pastor Bah’s Compound 55 | Waterloo |
| Western Urban | Mafa Field, Regent Road | Lumley |
| Western Urban | Fula Mosque, K step | Calaba Town |
The ECSL clarified that its support is limited to providing vehicles, drivers, and access to the designated centres and stations. The assistance period runs from Friday, December 26, 2025, to Monday, December 29, 2025.
This regional cooperation underscores efforts to facilitate democratic participation for diaspora communities amid Guinea’s ongoing transition to civilian rule.
Guinea’s presidential election on Sunday, December 28, 2025, marks the country’s first since a 2021 military coup ousted President Alpha Condé. Junta leader Mamady Doumbouya, who seized power and later reversed his pledge not to run, is the strong favorite to win amid a weakened opposition.
A controversial new constitution adopted in September 2025 allows Doumbouya to contest and extends presidential terms to seven years. Key rivals have been sidelined through disqualifications, exile, or party suspensions, leaving nine candidates, mostly low-profile challengers.
Analysts predict Doumbouya will secure victory, boosted by progress on the massive Simandou iron ore project and tight control over the political landscape.
