Freetown, January 5, 2026 – The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has formally published the finalized Internal Elections Rules and Regulations for the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party, marking a key step toward strengthening internal democracy within one of the country’s major political forces.
In an official notice issued today, the PPRC confirmed that the rules have been gazetted in the Sierra Leone Gazette, in strict compliance with Section 25 of the Political Parties Act of 2022. This legal requirement ensures transparency and public access to party governance documents.
The gazetting period will span 14 consecutive days, commencing on Monday, January 5, 2026, and concluding on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. During this window, the rules will be available for public scrutiny as part of the standard regulatory process.
Notably, the Commission has emphasized that no objections to the published rules will be entertained or accepted throughout this period, underscoring the finality of the document.
This development comes amid ongoing efforts to regulate political party activities and promote fair internal processes ahead of future elections.
The APC, as the main opposition party, has been preparing for internal restructuring, and these rules are expected to guide upcoming lower-level and leadership elections.
