Makeni, Sierra Leone – A devastating fire destroyed the home of Regent Chief Foday Conteh in Bombali Shebora Chiefdom on Monday night, January 5, 2026.
The chief, his wife, and their three children were inside when the blaze started. Tragically, the wife and children suffered severe burns and died from their injuries.
Chief Foday Conteh survived but was seriously injured. He is receiving treatment at the Government Hospital on Makama Road in Makeni City.
Local authorities have expressed deep sorrow over the loss, which has shocked the community in this part of Bombali District in Sierra Leone’s Northern Province.
