In the latest FIFA men’s world rankings released on Thursday, the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone have climbed from 126th to 122nd.
This upward movement comes on the heels of their strong performance in June’s World Cup qualifiers, where they secured a 2-1 victory over Djibouti and held Burkina Faso to a 1-1 draw.
Sierra Leone’s rise in the rankings reflects the team’s resilience and tactical prowess during the qualifiers. In contrast, Liberia made the most significant leap, soaring 10 positions to reach a new high of 142nd, thanks to an impressive gain of 37.47 points.
Equatorial Guinea faced the steepest decline, dropping 10 places and losing 47.53 points, indicating a challenging period for the team.
At the top of the rankings, Argentina continues to reign supreme, maintaining its position as the world’s leading football nation.
