Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has addressed growing concerns over a graphic video circulating on social media, which allegedly shows the dismemberment of an individual at Ogoo Farm, Sierra Leone.
The video, accompanied by an audio message, claims that the perpetrator was apprehended and taken to the Mambo police station, with additional assertions that the victim was a pupil from Divine School.
In a press statement released today, the SLP categorically denied these claims, clarifying that the incident depicted in the video did not occur in Sierra Leone.
“We want to make it abundantly clear that the graphic video is not linked to any incident in the country,” the statement read.
To verify the claims, the SLP consulted Mr. Foday Kekuda Mansaray, the headman of the Mambo community, who dismissed the reports as “false, malicious, and an attempt to incite unnecessary alarm among community members.”
The police further urged the public to remain calm and continue with their daily activities.
“We assure everyone that the Sierra Leone Police remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens at all times,” the statement concluded.
Authorities are advising social media users to be cautious of the content they share, as the dissemination of such false information can create unnecessary panic.
