Freetown, Sierra Leone** – January 14, 2026 – In a shocking turn of events, a fatal shooting unfolded at the Armed Forces Training Centre (AFTC) in Benguema earlier today, claiming the lives of two members of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF).
According to official reports, the incident occurred around 11 a.m. when Corporal Kamara, known by the alias “No.9,” allegedly opened fire on his superior officer, Major Abdul Larkoh, resulting in the major’s immediate death.
Sources within the RSLAF expressed deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting the unexpected nature of the violence within their ranks.
Following the attack, Corporal Kamara reportedly turned the weapon on himself in an apparent bid to evade capture and any subsequent legal proceedings.
Despite being in critical condition, he was swiftly apprehended by fellow personnel and transported to the 34 Military Hospital for urgent medical care. Tragically, medics pronounced him dead upon arrival.
RSLAF command has swiftly initiated a thorough probe into the events surrounding the shooting and the subsequent suicide attempt.
