Law enforcement authorities in Freetown West uncovered what is believed to be a drug production site during a coordinated operation on Friday, June 13th, 2025.
The raid, which targeted a three-storey building on Taylor Street, Fourah Bay Road, was carried out following intelligence received by the Regional Commander for Freetown West, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Sylvester M.N. Koroma.
Acting on credible reports suggesting the location was being used to manufacture the synthetic drug kush and other illegal narcotics, AIG Koroma swiftly mobilized personnel and intelligence resources to support the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU).
Led by Chief Superintendent of Police M.K. Alieu, the TOCU team conducted a tactical entry into the premises.
A detailed search of the building revealed a cache of items typically associated with drug production, including large quantities of suspected narcotics, chemical liquids, gas masks, and precision digital scales.
Though the building was unoccupied at the time of the operation, its setup bore strong signs of illicit drug manufacturing activity. Despite the presence of local stakeholders during the raid — a measure taken to uphold transparency and public trust — no one could provide information about the individuals responsible for the property or its operations.
Authorities have confirmed that investigations are underway to identify the owners and potential suspects linked to the site.
The police have urged the public to come forward with any relevant information.
The operation marks another step in the fight against the spread of kush and other harmful substances that continue to pose significant threats to public health and safety in Sierra Leone.
