The outgoing Minister of Sport, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh has handed over the mantle of leadership to new Minister, Madam Augusta James-Teima.
The ceremony took place at the the Ministry’s conference hall in the presence of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Management, headed by its Executive Director, Dr. Kenneth Brima. The ceremony was chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Morrison B. Gboyo.
In his statement the outgoing minister, expressed thanks to Allah for taking him throughout his tenure, outlining his success stories and challenges.
“The game of football was the most tedious of all, but I succeeded taking the National Team Leone Stars to the AFCON Tournament in Cameroon 2022,” he said.
Nyelenkeh thanked President Julius Maada Bio for his financial support during his tenure in office and for giving him the opportunity to serve as Sport Minister.
He congratulated Madam Minister as the first Female Minister of Sports. “I have no doubt in her; with your experience and knowledge within the game of sports, you will live up to the expectations of our President.”
“Thanks to the NSA and staff of the Ministry of Sports for their supports and contributions during my tenure in office.
“Madam Minister, I am always at your service to give you advice and full support whenever you request. With this statement from me, I have the honor and privilege to hand over the mantle of leadership to you.”
In her statement, Madam James-Teima expressed thanks to the outgoing Minister for a job well done.
“All recommendations in your handing over notes will be considered in terms of continuity and development within the Ministry of Sports,” she said.
The new minister added that, “I know there are challenges but with the positive support from my staff, the NSA, and you the outgoing Minister, we will succeed.”
She concluded by thinking President Bio for making her the first Female Minister of Sports in Sierra Leone.
Statements were made by the Director of Sports, Haroun Korjie and Dr. Kenneth Brima of NSA.
The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by the Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Sports, Mrs. Femusu Eunice Samba.
