CAF-SL was established as a national non- governmental organization in Sierra Leone with its headquarters situated in Bo City and branch offices in Makeni and Magburaka. We are currently working in Bo, Bombali and Tonkolili Districts implementing FGM, Girl’s Shelter Programs and working with couples.

Background of the project

CAF-SL received funding from Schmitz through CAA Germany to implement DARE to connect for couples projects in Bo, Bombali and Tonkolili Districts, in the Southern and Northern Sierra Leone, for 8 month. The purpose of the project is to reduce conflict among couples and to improve on the living conduction of families. The DARE to connect project focus on peace and unity among family members

Purpose of the Job

▪️To work within the frame work of the organisation, performing duties as specified below and other tasks as directed by Line Manager.
▪️To work with the project Coordinator, ensuring that all required duties are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
▪️To provide reliable working relationship with coaches and couples to ensure that the project activities are implemented effectively and in a timely manner
▪️To provide community engagement sessions in relation to DARE to connect for couples
▪️To empower community members to develop and implement potential action plans that will help reduce violence in the three districts

Roles and responsibilities of Social Worker

▪️Facilitate the identification of potential coaches for the project
▪️Conduct Act and Prosocial trainings for coaches, couples, children and community members
▪️Provision of financial and material support for agricultural activities for couples
▪️Work closely with trained coaches and couples at chiefdom and community levels.
▪️Conduct meetings with Coupes ad their children
▪️Disseminate and display Information Education
▪️Communication materials
▪️Conduct and monitor agricultural activities
▪️ Conduct ACT and Prosocial trainings for couples and children
▪️Conduct Supervisio meetings with couples
▪️Conduct data collection at community level.
▪️Prepare in consultation with the Field coordinator monthly narrative progress reports for the field operations
▪️Support the coordinator with relevant aspects of project implementation, especially monitoring of project outputs and results.
▪️Follow-up on coaches ad couples in the fields.
▪️Inform management on all challenged faced in the implementation of activities in the field
▪️Collaborate and coordinate with other social workers
▪️Facilitate the development of weekly activity plans
▪️Provide individual and group counseling session for coaches, couples and children
▪️Establish and work with couples groups in the commuities
▪️Carry out any other activity upon request by his/ her supervisor.

Person Specifications:
▪️A Bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology with minimum 3 years’ experience in conflict management.
▪️Must possess excellent report writing skills
▪️Excellent networking, communication and interpersonal skills
▪️Experience in coordinating field activities
▪️Working knowledge of MS Office, online communications and related applications
▪️Ability and willingness to ride a motor bike, possess drivers license and be based in the field.
▪️Ability to speak Mende, Krio, Temne and Limba will be an added advantage.
▪️Commitment and passion to work with local people and state actors at chiefdom level.
