In a gripping 2026 World Cup Qualifiers match held on Wednesday, Sierra Leone’s national football team clinched a 2-1 victory over Djibouti at the Ben M’Hamed El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida, Morocco.
British-born defender Curtis Davies put the Leone Stars ahead early, netting the first goal in the 12th minute. Djibouti, however, fought back and equalized in the 34th minute with a penalty kick by Gabriel Dadzie, leaving the teams tied at halftime.
Sierra Leone regained their lead in the second half when Augustus Kargbo scored in the 51st minute. Despite intense defensive pressure from Djibouti, the Leone Stars maintained their advantage, securing a crucial win.
This victory marks Sierra Leone’s first win in their third qualifier match, bringing their points tally to four.
