The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced a final extension for public officers to submit their asset declarations. The new deadline is now set for 30th June 2024, as per Section 119(4) of the Anti-Corruption Act 2008.
The ACC Commissioner stated, “This extension is due to reported difficulties by some declarants in filling the form using only the National Identification Number (NIN).” To address this issue, public officers are now permitted to use their passport numbers if they do not possess a NIN.
“This new deadline will be the final one, with no further extensions,” emphasized the Commissioner.
Failure to comply with the declaration requirements will result in stringent penalties:
– The public officer’s salary will be withheld.
– Suspension for three months after one month of default.
– Dismissal after exceeding three months of default. (This applies to all positions except those where removal from office is constitutionally stipulated.)
The ACC urges all public officers who have not yet submitted their online asset declaration forms to utilize this final extension.
“Beyond the stated date, any default will be treated as deliberate, and defaulters will face the prescribed penalties,” warned the Commission.
Public officers encountering difficulties in filling out the form or requiring assistance are advised to contact the Assets Declaration Office of the Commission for support.
