Kenema, Sierra Leone — Magistrate Court No. 1 in Kenema has committed three criminal cases, including a murder matter popularly known as the “Gaza” case, to the High Court of Sierra Leone for trial.
The committal proceedings were held on January 21, 2026, before His Worship Magistrate Hadiru Daboh. The defendants are Ansu Goba, also known as “Gaza,” an 18-year-old pupil; Moseray Kamara, alias “Ice Boy,” a 20-year-old unemployed youth; and Samai Blango, a 20-year-old miner. All are residents of the Kenema Judicial District.
In the murder case, Ansu Goba stands accused of unlawfully causing the death of Kemoh Sesay Mannah on October 27, 2025, at Mano-Kortuma Village in Nongowa Chiefdom.
The prosecution, led by ASP Sulaiman Kamara Esq, applied for the matter to be committed to the High Court. No plea was taken, and the accused was unrepresented at the time of the hearing.
Magistrate Daboh ordered Goba’s continued remand at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema pending trial.
In a separate case, Moseray Kamara was charged with housebreaking and larceny, after allegedly breaking into the residence of Samuel Lavallie and stealing NLe 68,000 in December 2024.
Meanwhile, Samai Blango faces charges of housebreaking and malicious damage, following allegations that he broke into the home of Fatmata Kabba in December 2025 and damaged a steel window valued at NLe 3,500.
No pleas were taken in either of the latter cases. Both Kamara and Blango were remanded at the SLCC in Kenema as the matters were also committed to the High Court.
The committals pave the way for the High Court to hear and determine the cases in accordance with Sierra Leone’s criminal justice procedures.
