Freetown, February 24, 2025 – Honorable Alhaji Dr. Kandeh K. Yumkella convened a high-level meeting on Monday with the leadership of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) and the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC) to discuss critical energy sector reforms.
The discussions centered on President Julius Maada Bio’s vision for energy sovereignty, ongoing negotiations with Karpowership, and the integration of renewable energy into the country’s power supply.
Officials also reviewed the government’s immediate plans for power generation and broader strategies for energy transition.
The meeting underscored a commitment to tackling Sierra Leone’s energy challenges while prioritizing efficiency and accountability in the sector.
Leaders pledged to collaborate in ensuring sustainable and reliable electricity for the nation.
