In a significant move towards addressing the political deadlock that followed the June 24, 2023 elections, the Inter-Religious Council of Sierra Leone (IRCSL) embarked on a fact-finding mission to the All People’s Congress (APC) headquarters.
The delegation, led by Vice President Alhaji Murtada Sesay, engaged with APC’s National Executive on August 14th, 2023, at the party’s headquarters on 11a Old Railway line, Brookfield Freetown.
During the meeting, Reverend Jesse Forna, the National Secretary General of the Council, emphasized the Council’s commitment to understanding the concerns of the APC party firsthand.
The IRCSL has already engaged with key institutions such as the Office of National Security (ONS) and the Elections Commission Sierra Leone (ECSL), and this interaction with the APC aims to provide a comprehensive perspective on the ongoing political impasse in the country.
The discussions were not intended as negotiations on the party’s current stance of non-participation in governance. Rather, they were part of a broader series of consultations with various stakeholders across Sierra Leone.
Despite the welcoming reception from the APC’s National Executive, headed by National Chairman Alhajie Minkalu Mansaray and Deputy National Chairman Amb Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh, the party reiterated its steadfast position regarding the current political impasse.
