Freetown, September 6, 2023 – The Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone (HRCSL) has officially refuted recent claims circulating on social media that Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, the former Chairman and Leader of the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP), has passed away at the Freetown Male Correctional Center.
In a statement released today, HRCSL clarified that these rumors are entirely false.
HRCSL has urged the public to rely on its official website and social media channels for accurate information regarding its activities.
According to their statement, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray is presently serving his sentence at the Freetown Male Correctional Center. The commission has not received any official information regarding his status from relevant authorities, emphasizing that any contrary claims are misleading and do not reflect their official stance.
This development follows the recent conviction of Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray for grooming and engaging in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old schoolgirl. Judge Samuel Omodale Taylor at the Appeals Court in Freetown sentenced him to 32 years in prison. The prosecution alleged that Kamarainba, along with co-accused Marion Aruni, who is said to be the girl’s aunt, carried out these actions on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 2020, in Koidu city, Kono District.
HRCSL’s statement serves as a crucial clarification amid widespread speculation and misinformation surrounding this high-profile case.
