Sierra Leone’s Ambassador of Entertainment and Investment, Amara Turay Jalloh popularly known as Kao Denero has on Friday 28th June 2024 delivered a public lectures at the Foray Bay College, University of Sierra Leone (FBC).
The lecture is based on the topic ‘History and Hip Hop’.
Speaking mainly to Students of the history department who had assembled at their Conference Hall, Ambassador Kao Denero started by explaining rich Africa history from slave trade days to Pan Africanism, highlighting and explaining full history about African Heroes he particularly mentioned in his Heroes Album like; Bob Marley, Steven Biko, Shekou Turay etc.
Ambassador Kao went further by explaining and gave overview on the history of HIPHOP which he started by educating Students’ during when HIPHOP started in the 1970’s as it was described as illegal music to 1980’s and to when it became globally .
In this session of Lecture, he outrightly differentiated and cited examples between a rapper and an Emcee and also listed the elements of HIPHOP, factors to consider in becoming a very good and outstanding rapper, the challenges and how to overcome them.
Speaking at the program, the Deputy Registrar of Foray Bay College, Mr. Brima Bah applauded the Entertainment Ambassador and HIPHOP legend for such an Educative session with students’ of the department.
“This is historic Mr. Ambassador to be the first musician to delivered a Public Lecture at the first University in West Africa, Foray Bay College,” he said.
The Director of Culture and Heritage at the Ministry Of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Mr. Ezekiel described the significance of the public lecture session and complemented his effort for engaging Students on such a productive and important gathering as it has always been seen Kao Denero as an Artiste performing on stage.
Mr. Jalloh, a senior Lecturer of the department mentioned that, “Mr. Ambassador, you have even taught Students’ today what they cannot even learn in class by us and open a space for them to do more research on such Pan Africanist’s you have explained about, we wish you to be having you here on subsequent class sessions. He thanked the Ambassador for the Lecture session and appreciated him on behalf of the department.
The Student representative also thanked Ambassador Kao so much for the knowledge he shared with them and appealed to him to be visiting their department to share with them more about great Pan African Heroes.
A special thank you poem was dedicated to Ambassador Kao Denero after answering to all questions posed by Students to him after Lecturing.
