As schools across Sierra Leone open their doors for a new academic year, the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Conrad O. Sackey, has extended a warm welcome to all pupils, encouraging them to embrace the opportunities ahead.
“Whether you are returning to familiar classrooms or stepping into a new school for the first time, know that you are beginning a journey filled with exciting opportunities and new experiences,” said Minister Sackey in his message to pupils.
He emphasized the transformative power of education, urging students to see it as a tool that not only opens doors but also empowers them to shape their futures.
“Education is one of the most powerful tools you will ever have. It opens doors to knowledge, helps you dream bigger, and empowers you to shape your future,” Sackey stated.
The Minister reassured pupils of the unwavering support from their teachers, parents, and communities.
“As you walk through the school gates, remember that you carry within you the potential to achieve great things. Your teachers, parents, and communities believe in you, and we are all here to support you every step of the way,” he said.
Minister Sackey encouraged students to approach the new academic year with enthusiasm and determination, highlighting the importance of hard work and a positive mindset.
“I encourage you to approach this year with an open mind, a curious heart, and the determination to do your best. Every lesson, every challenge, and every new thing you learn brings you closer to becoming the leaders, thinkers, and problem-solvers our world needs,” he added.
He also urged pupils to be kind, inquisitive, and confident in their abilities.
“Be kind to one another, work hard, and never be afraid to ask questions. Most importantly, believe in yourself. I have no doubt that each of you has the ability to achieve greatness, and I am proud to see you take the next step in your education,” Minister Sackey concluded.
As pupils across the nation embark on this new academic year, the Minister’s message serves as a powerful reminder of the potential that lies within each student and the collective commitment to supporting their educational journey.
