Bo Rangers have etched their name in Sierra Leone football history by claiming their first-ever FA Cup title in a dramatic showdown against arch-rivals East End Lions.
The final, played at Kingtom Academy, ended in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 stalemate in regular time.
East End Lions took the lead in the 44th minute through Abdul Nyamekye, but Bo Rangers responded swiftly as Idrissa Sesay equalized just one minute into the second half. Ibrahim Turay, also known as “IB Computer,” then put Bo Rangers ahead, only for Mohamed Forbie to level the match for East End Lions with a penalty in the 65th minute.
With neither team able to find the winner in normal time, the match was decided by penalties, where Bo Rangers triumphed to lift the coveted trophy.
This defeat extends East End Lions’ trophy drought to over three years, marking one of the longest stretches without silverware in the club’s recent history.
For Bo Rangers’ coach John Keister, the victory adds to his illustrious career, cementing his status as one of Sierra Leone’s most successful football managers.
The match was a rescheduled replay after the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) called off the original final in May due to crowd disturbances that disrupted the event.
