Freetown, 7th July 2026- By publicly admitting failure as Energy Minister, President Bio has raised an undeniable question about his capacity to lead the entire nation. The standard he set himself demands he step down.
At the recent Makeni Town Hall meeting, President Julius Maada Bio made a startling acknowledgment: he had to relinquish his post as Minister of Energy because of the challenges. This was not a passing comment, it was an admission of failure.
In democracies worldwide, this would be an immediate political crisis. Britain’s recent political turmoil offers a stark reminder, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, resigned after failing to meet public expectations and losing the confidence of his party. When leaders admit they cannot manage key portfolios, the question of overall competence becomes unavoidable.
If the President can not successfully manage the Ministry of Energy, it raises questions about his ability to manage the affairs of the nation.
When a leader concedes failure in a critical sector, the public must ask: if you cannot manage a ministry, how can you manage a country? The answer is clear. RESIGN!
