Freetown, Sierra Leone – On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Appeals Court Judge Hon. Justice Momoh-Jah Stevens sentenced George Adams, a convicted coup plotter, to a total of 150 years in prison for his role in an attempted coup.
Adams was found guilty of treason, misprision of treason, and the murder of Correctional Service Officer Isaac Johnson during the failed coup attempt on September 10, 2023, in Freetown.
Justice Stevens handed down sentences of 75 years for treason, 5 years for misprision of treason, and 70 years for murder. The sentences are to run consecutively, resulting in a combined total of 150 years.
The court’s decision underscores the gravity of Adams’s actions in undermining national security and taking the life of a law enforcement officer.
