FREETOWN, 15th October 2026 – In late October 2025, nine people vanished from the streets of Freetown in the space of seven days. Most were taken in broad daylight. None have been seen since.

That is the chilling account at the centre of a new investigative report by the UK Guardian, which alleges that Europe’s most wanted cocaine trafficker, Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, known as Bolle Jos, has turned Sierra Leone into a base for a transcontinental drug network enforced by murder.

The investigation, by Mark Townsend and published Wednesday 14th October 2026, alleges that at least 14 people have been killed inside Sierra Leone on Leijdekkers’ orders, with high-ranking police officers among them.

The Goodies Supermarket Abduction

The report opens with the case of Alan Jalloh, 40, a shop owner.

Witnesses quoted by the Guardian said Jalloh was with two friends outside Goodies supermarket in Freetown, during rush hour, when a black Toyota Rav4 forced its way through traffic on the Peninsula highway. Burly white men wearing balaclavas jumped out and dragged all three – including Alusine “Bokay” Koroma, a famous Sierra Leonean international footballer – into the SUV.

That was 23rd October 2025, according to the report.

Two days later, on 25th October, another three men disappeared. By the end of that week, nine people had been seized.

“They were exterminated to hide the truth,” a police officer investigating Jalloh’s abduction told the Guardian.

Police sources quoted in the report alleged the victims were dismembered, with at least one beheaded. Witness statements cited said hours before his abduction, troops visited Jalloh’s Freetown Liquor Mart and looted its contents. Some of those kidnapped were allegedly buried at Freetown’s police cemetery.

“Reliable sources say they were sliced with a power saw while alive. A pit was dug, the bodies dissolved with chemicals and concreted over,” one police officer alleged. Another source claimed a “head was missing”.

Police Tracked SUV, Then Told To Stop

The Guardian says detectives made a swift breakthrough after Jalloh’s abduction. Officers tracked down the black Toyota.

“We recognised it from our surveillance work on Leijdekkers,” one officer is quoted as saying.

Three kidnappers were arrested, but the report alleges that before they could be questioned, senior officers intervened and they were released the same day.

In a separate incident days later, the report says police raided a Freetown warehouse and found two teenagers and a property owner guarding blocks of cocaine. Halfway through the arrest, 40 armed troops allegedly arrived and at gunpoint ordered police to release the suspects.

“Officers were told to leave everything with the military. Nobody saw those boys again,” a police source told the Guardian.

The lead investigator in Jalloh’s case was abruptly transferred, the report adds, and Jalloh’s family could no longer contact the team. No police statement was ever issued about the nine disappearances, despite Jalloh being related to Sierra Leone’s Vice-President.

Beyond The Nine

The Guardian alleges the nine are part of a larger pattern that brings the total to at least 14 killings on Leijdekkers’ orders.

The paper lists other cases including John Conteh, a port worker checking container seals for MSC at Freetown Port, who allegedly began inspecting containers linked to Leijdekkers and was crushed in work machinery at 1am on 2 June 2024, the only MSC employee to die in Freetown in 14 years.

Superintendent Matthew “Boyka” Banya, shot point-blank in a marked police car near Makeni clock tower on 8 April 2023 after allegedly falling foul of the network; and three officers of a specialist police unit killed in a vehicle crash two months after Jalloh disappeared, followed days later by a fourth officer found hanged.

“If you get in his way, he wipes you out,” an intelligence source told the Guardian. Another source said: “Targeted assassinations, cover-ups and impunity. We are terrified.”

The report alleges Leijdekkers operates with foreign “commandos” – Turkish, Dutch and Serbian bodyguards armed with pistols and assault rifles.

Sierra Leone Police and the military declined to comment when contacted by the Guardian, the newspaper said. MSC declined to comment on Conteh’s death.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and the Government of Sierra Leone has not yet responded to the latest Guardian publication.
