Manchester City and Newcastle United are reportedly showing keen interest in Sierra Leonean teenage sensation Juma Bah, who has been making waves in LaLiga with Real Valladolid.
The 18-year-old centre-back, standing at an imposing 6ft 5in, has caught the attention of Etihad scouts, who are considering a potential move during the January transfer window.
Newcastle United is also closely monitoring Bah, alongside Everton and Crystal Palace, who are believed to have an eye on the young talent.
Bah has made seven appearances for Valladolid this season, having joined the Spanish club on loan from Sierra Leonean side AIK Freetong. Originally signed for Valladolid’s B team, Bah has exceeded expectations, earning a spot in the first team during his debut LaLiga season.
His performances have been nothing short of historic. In his debut against Real Sociedad, which ended in a 0-0 draw, Bah became the first Sierra Leone-born player to feature in Spain’s top flight.
The defender began his journey with AIK Freetong in 2021 before a successful loan spell with Sierra Leone National Premier League side Freetonians SLIFA. His rapid development has not only turned heads in Spain but has also attracted interest from Premier League giants.
Manchester City’s current injury struggles and inconsistent form might accelerate their interest in Bah as Pep Guardiola seeks defensive reinforcements without overburdening his younger players. Meanwhile, Newcastle United’s ambitions to bolster their squad could see a competitive bidding war for the Sierra Leonean prodigy.
With the January transfer window approaching, all eyes are on Bah’s next move as he continues to shine on the international stage.
