Freetown – The Sierra Leone Football Association has published the minimum qualification requirements for technical staff ahead of the 2026/27 domestic league season.
The new rules cover Head Coaches, Assistant Head Coaches and Technical Directors across all major competitions under the SLFA’s control. Clubs have been urged to study the requirements carefully and ensure their technical teams are fully compliant before the new season begins.
Here are the key standards:
Leone Rock Premier League & Marampa Mines Women’s Premier League
– Head Coach: CAF A, B or C licence (or equivalent Confederation A or B)
– Assistant Head Coach: CAF B or C (or equivalent Confederation A or B)
– Technical Director: CAF A (or equivalent Confederation PRO/A)
Division One
– Head Coach: CAF C or D (or equivalent Confederation B or C)
– Assistant Head Coach: CAF D (or equivalent Confederation C or D)
– Technical Director: CAF B (or equivalent Confederation B/C)
Division Two
– Head Coach: CAF D (or equivalent Confederation D)
– Assistant Head Coach: CAF D or SLFA E
– Technical Director: CAF B or C (or equivalent Confederation B/C)
TDS League
– Head Coach: CAF D plus FIFA Safeguarding Essentials
– Assistant Head Coach: CAF D or SLFA E
– Technical Director: CAF C
The SLFA said the measures form part of its drive to raise professional standards, strengthen technical development and improve governance in Sierra Leone football.
Clubs are advised to act early to avoid last-minute problems with registration.
