The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced a vacancy for the position of Head Coach of the country’s senior men’s national team, Leone Stars.
In a public notice issued by the association, the SLFA said it is seeking qualified and experienced candidates to take charge of the team’s technical direction and overall performance in international competitions.
According to the announcement, the successful applicant will be responsible for leading all aspects of the national team’s football operations, including squad selection, match preparation, and tactical planning. The role also involves organizing training camps and working closely with the SLFA Technical Department and team management to ensure effective coordination.
The Head Coach will be expected to define the team’s playing philosophy, oversee scouting activities, monitor player performance, and maintain a competitive squad. Additionally, the coach will be required to align with the association’s long-term football development strategies and submit regular technical and performance reports.
To qualify, applicants must hold a CAF A License, UEFA Pro License, or an equivalent FIFA-recognized coaching certification. The SLFA is also requiring a minimum of five to ten years’ experience at senior level, preferably with a national team or top-tier club, along with a proven record of competitive success.
Candidates with strong knowledge of modern coaching techniques, as well as experience within African football environments, will have an added advantage. The association emphasized the need for leadership qualities, discipline, and the ability to perform under pressure, alongside effective communication skills.
Interested applicants are required to submit a curriculum vitae, copies of coaching qualifications, a brief technical proposal outlining their coaching philosophy, and at least two professional references.
Applications should be addressed to the General Secretary at the SLFA headquarters on 21 Battery Street in Freetown or sent via the association’s official email addresses. The deadline for submissions is May 12, 2026.
The SLFA noted that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
