In a bid to address the growing issue of drug trafficking and use in our communities, police personnel at the Fore Road Loko checkpoint demonstrated commendable vigilance during a recent vehicle search.
On Monday, November 25, 2024, police officers conducted a thorough inspection of vehicles, motorcycles, and pedestrians at the checkpoint. During this operation, they intercepted a Honda motorcycle with registration Number AWI 422. The rider, however, fled the scene, abandoning his passenger, Yainkain Samura.
Upon searching the motorcycle, police discovered five bundles of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa. During questioning, Samura claimed ownership of the contraband.
She has since been taken to the Criminal Investigation Department at the Kamakwie Police Station for further interrogation.
The police continue to bolster their efforts in curtailing drug-related offenses in the country.
