Freetown, Sierra Leone – A shocking incident in the Motomeh community of Freetown has left residents in disbelief after a woman, identified as Hawa, allegedly set her husband, Naibeyu, on fire.
The incident occurred on Friday, November 15, 2024, inside Naibeyu’s shop, where he sold provisions and beverages.
According to eyewitness accounts, Hawa reportedly poured petrol on her husband and set him ablaze.
Further reports indicate that both Hawa and Naibeyu operated businesses in the same building, with Hawa running a foodstuffs shop. Community members claim that Hawa had accused her husband of infidelity, alleging that he brought his lovers to his shop. She is said to have vowed to take drastic action against him.
Naibeyu is currently in critical condition and receiving treatment at Connaught Hospital.
Meanwhile, Hawa has been taken into police custody as investigations into the incident continue.
