A series of well-coordinated raids conducted in and around Waterloo resulted in the arrest of 22 individuals, marking a significant step in the efforts to enhance security in the region.
Spearheaded by the adept Local Unit Commander of Waterloo Police Division, CSP Mr. Ibrahim M Sama, these operations led to the apprehension of 22 individuals, including males and females.
The suspects faced a range of charges, including violations of the Public Order Act and drug-related offenses. The accused were presented before the Magistrate’s Court, located at King Yard, Waterloo, to answer for their alleged involvement in these activities. The proceedings shed light on the efforts being taken to combat the pressing issue of drug-related crimes in the area.
Among the individuals arrested was Karita Kargbo of Madina Walahi Village in Tombo, who was found in possession of a significant quantity of Cannabis Sativa during the raids. However, due to compassionate grounds, the Waterloo Police decided to grant her bail, despite her heavily pregnant state.
In a decisive move, all 22 accused persons, including Ms. Kargbo, were remanded in the Kissi Town/Banga Farm Correctional Center, a local correctional facility situated in Waterloo.
Their upcoming appearance in court is scheduled for September 4, 2023, as they await further legal proceedings.
The actions taken by the Waterloo Police Division underscore their dedication to combating the sale and distribution of illicit substances, including Kush, Cannabis Sativa, and Tramadol.
