Freetown, August 31, 2024 – A somber atmosphere engulfed the Freetown City Council as the remains of Sia Fatmata Kamara were laid out in the Council’s Auditorium for a civic funeral.
The tragic death of Sia Fatmata Kamara has sent shockwaves throughout Sierra Leone, with citizens and human rights organizations rallying for justice and decisive action against domestic violence, particularly violence against women and girls.
The alleged perpetrator, Abdul Kpaka, is currently on trial, with the next hearing scheduled for September 4, 2024.
The trial, which began last week at Pademba Court under the oversight of Magistrate Santigue Bangura, has drawn significant public attention. The defense is led by Teddy Koroma Esq., while Joan Bull Esq. represents the state prosecution.
