Freetown, Monday, May 5, 2025 – In a decisive move to clear illegal garages and improve road safety across the capital, the Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), Mr. James Baggie Bio, officially launched an enforcement operation along the Hill Side Bypass Road at Dawazark Junction.
The operation, which began on Monday, targets illegally parked vehicles, bikes, Kekehs, and other road hazards obstructing public roadways.
According to officials, this is the first phase of a broader campaign that will extend to other parts of Freetown known for illegal street garages.
Present at the launch were key figures from the road safety and transport sectors, including SLRSA Deputy Executive Director and Head of Operations, Mr. Josie A. Scott-Manga; Director of Safety and Enforcement, Mr. Augustine Kaitongi; Director of Traffic; and representatives of the Joint Operations Team comprising members of the Sierra Leone Police and Road Safety Corps.
The initiative reflects SLRSA’s continued commitment to enhancing road safety and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations throughout the country.
