The Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MOICE) wishes to clarify a statement attributed to Resident Minister, Eastern Region, Hon. Jusu Jaka Ngobeh, in an article titled “High-Level Government Delegation Visits Koindu, Kissi Teng Chiefdom, To Address Yenga Dispute”.
Hon. Ngobeh was referring to the Yenga area, not the town itself, which remains under Guinean occupation for over two decades.
The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces have recently made strategic deployments in Sokoma and Pengu Bendu, approximately 200 metres from Yenga, in a move aimed at protecting citizens and asserting national sovereignty. These deployments nearly surround the Guinean position, while diplomatic efforts continue to seek a final resolution to the dispute.
The Ministry was represented in the Koindu delegation by National Outreach Coordinator, Abubakarr Joe Sesay, who gathered first-hand information on the situation.
The public is assured of MOICE’s commitment to factual and timely updates.
