The ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has unveiled a comprehensive set of guidelines aimed at ensuring a transparent and peaceful conduct of its upcoming executive elections across all districts in the country.
In an official statement released on Sunday, June 15, 2025, the party outlined key procedures covering four major areas: submission of delegate lists, application for executive positions, recognition of support organizations, and the appointment of Returning Officers to oversee the electoral process.
Party members and stakeholders have been instructed to submit both regional and district chairpersons’ delegate lists along with applications for elective positions to the party’s national headquarters. Copies of these documents are also to be distributed to the respective regions and districts for accountability and transparency.
Support organizations affiliated with the SLPP are required to pay a conference participation fee of Le10,000 by Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
The statement emphasized that failure to meet this deadline could result in disqualification from participating in the process.
In a bid to further reinforce credibility, the national Chairman of the SLPP will appoint national officers to serve as Returning Officers during the elections. The names of those appointed will be made public on or before June 20, 2025.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy and urged all participants to adhere strictly to the guidelines to maintain peace and order throughout the electoral process.
