Freetown, Sierra Leone – The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Thomas Daddy Brima, along with Acting Secretary General and Financial Secretary Ibrahim Bah, has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on allegations of bribery, misappropriation, and embezzlement of SLFA funds.
The arrests come just days before the SLFA’s Ordinary Congress, raising concerns about potential financial misconduct within the association.
Sources indicate that the investigation centers around allegations that Brima offered $1,000 in bribes to SLFA district executives across the country in exchange for their signatures to manipulate the attendance list for the upcoming Extraordinary Congress, scheduled for Sunday, April 5, 2025.
In a related development, the ACC has called for a press conference on Friday, April 4, 2025, at its Integrity House office on Tower Hill, Freetown.
The commission has invited one representative from each media outlet, while television stations are permitted to send two representatives (a reporter and a cameraman). The press briefing is expected to provide further updates on the ongoing investigation.
The unfolding corruption probe casts a shadow over the legitimacy and integrity of the SLFA’s upcoming Extraordinary Congress.
