Georgiana Sesay, Sierra Leone’s sole athletics representative at the Paris 2024 Olympics, secured a fourth-place finish in Heat 4 of the Women’s 100m Preliminary Round at the Stade de France.
Her impressive time of 11.99 seconds earned her a spot in the next round, showcasing her talent on the world stage.
Sesay has now been is in Heat 2 of the Women’s 100m Round 1 in the Olympics Games. She will run from Lane 3. The First 3 in each heat (Q).
Sesay, an Olympic newcomer, qualified for the preliminary round through her track performance, highlighting her potential among the international competitors.
Meanwhile, Sierra Leonean swimmer Joshua Wyse concluded his Olympic run in the men’s 50m freestyle. The 23-year-old finished with a time of 27.11 seconds, missing the top 16 times required to advance to the semifinals.
Wyse is the second athlete from Sierra Leone to exit the Paris 2024 Games, following 17-year-old Mariama Koroma’s defeat in judo against Taiwan’s Lien Chen-ling.
