In a dramatic turn of events, the Sierra Leone Premier League Board has announced that all Premier League matches scheduled for November 4th and 5th, 2023, will proceed as planned, defying a recent High Court injunction.
“The Sierra Leone Premier League Board would like to inform the public and premier league clubs that the games slated for the 4th 5th November 2023 will proceed as scheduled,” a statement signed bybSampha Hassan Kamara, Secretary, PLB reads.
The shocking decision to continue the matches comes after the High Court of Sierra Leone issued a groundbreaking injunction, putting an immediate halt to all Sierra Leone Premier League matches.
High Court Judge Adrien Fisher made this ruling on Friday, November 3, 2023, in response to mounting concerns and allegations of irregularities within the Sierra Leone Premier League.
The legal dispute revolves around Kamboi Eagles, a Sierra Leone Premier League side, which sought an injunction against the Sierra Leone Premier League Board during the recently concluded league season.
The High Court’s decision temporarily suspends all Premier League games, with the aim of ensuring the integrity and fairness of the league competition.
This judicial intervention marks a crucial turning point in the ongoing investigation into the alleged irregularities within the league.
