Freetown, Sierra Leone – April 25, 2025 – The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have confirmed the arrest of three fugitives; Alpha Turay, Joseph Dumbuya, and Salieu Jalloh in connection with the failed coup attempt that occurred in November 2023.
In a statement released on today, the SLP acknowledged the role of the public in facilitating the arrests. “We wish to thank members of the public for providing the information that led to the arrest of these fugitives,” the statement read.
The police emphasized their unwavering commitment to justice and national stability.
“The Sierra Leone Police reaffirms its commitment to pursue, apprehend, investigate, and charge to court any person or persons who were involved in the failed coup,” the release continued.
To further encourage public cooperation, the police announced a reward.
“A compensation package of NLe 10,000.00 will be given to any person or persons providing information which will lead to the arrest of the fugitives,” the SLP said.
The statement concluded with a call for unity and collaboration.
“The Sierra Leone Police continues to work with well-meaning Sierra Leoneans to create a stable, secure, and peaceful Sierra Leone,” it affirmed.
The failed coup in late 2023 remains one of the most serious threats to national stability in recent years. Investigations are ongoing.
