FREETOWN, Sierra Leone – In a significant diplomatic engagement, President Julius Maada Bio met with key leaders of the Mano River Union (MRU) on July 16, 2024.
The meeting included discussions with the Union’s Secretary General, Ambassador Simeon M.B Moribah, and Deputy Secretary General, Mrs. Ange M.C Konan-Monu.
President Bio shared news of the meeting on social media, stating, “Today, I granted audience to the Mano River Union Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General, Amb. Simeon M.B Moribah and Mrs. Ange M.C Konan-Monu respectively. I was apprised of the challenges of the Secretariat and plans for effective operations.”
The Mano River Union, established in 1973, aims to foster solidarity, enhance cooperation among member states, and promote peaceful coexistence among their peoples.
Reflecting on the Union’s mission, President Bio reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s commitment to the MRU, emphasizing the country’s dedication to supporting the Secretariat and revitalizing the Union’s efforts.
This meeting highlights Sierra Leone’s ongoing commitment to regional cooperation and the strengthening of ties within the Mano River Union, which includes Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, and Côte d’Ivoire.
